The History of Yoga
The meaning of the word yoga is 'Union' and refers to uniting the mind, body and soul as one in order to connect with our true self. Yoga originated in India over 6,000 years ago and the practice of yoga consists of physical and mental disciplines that help us to become healthy, alert and more aware of our thoughts and therefore more mindful. The yoga postures or as they are called in yoga - Asanas, exercise every part of the body, stretching and toning the muscles and joints as well as stimulating the internal organs glands and nerves. Yoga ultimately releases physical and mental tension and creates a huge amount of energy in the body. Yoga can also produce an incredible feeling of joy, which is why you enjoy yoga so much.
